Our Story
Joe and Elizabeth Bloch are long-time residents of North Carolina. We have passionately called the Wilmington area our home since 2006. Knowing that someday we would follow our hearts to the country, in 2016, we purchased some land in Winnabow, NC. Dedicated to turning that raw land into a place we could someday call home, our family spent countless weekends cutting in trails and clearing small spaces with nothing more than machetes and chainsaws. As we prepared to build our house in 2020, we were able to establish this special piece of land as “Clay Hill Farms”.
Since then, we have added barns, pastures, hiking trails, green spaces, and natural areas. We are passionate about creating a place where people and animals can flourish and appreciate this small corner of the world, as God intended.
Pasture-Raised Chicken:
Our chickens are raised on Bermuda grass pastures. Housed in chicken tractors, the chickens are moved daily so they always have fresh grass to feed on.
If you’ve ever wondered where your poultry was coming from, you can put your worries aside and see the chickens for yourself! Come tour the pastures when you pick up your order. Then you can taste the difference in these fresh, local, wholesome birds.
Free-Range Chicken and Duck Eggs:
Our egg-laying chickens and ducks have a large, natural area to free range during the day. They enjoy roaming and scratching through the pine straw, free from cages. We collect and harvest their eggs daily for your convenience.
Pasture-Raised Turkeys:
Since Thanksgiving is such a special holiday for many people, we wanted to help provide our community with a bird you can be proud of. You can pre-order your local pasture-raised turkey and avoid the supermarket rush in November.
Pasture-Raised Pork
Our pasture raised pigs live their entire lives outdoors on our family farm, where they enjoy fresh air, natural sunlight, and space to roam. Raised in nature as pigs are meant to be, they forage, root, and grow at a natural pace, resulting in flavorful, high-quality pork you can feel good about serving your family. We believe that responsible farming, animal well-being, and great taste all start with giving our animals a life on pasture.
Wood Chips & Mulch
When local trees need to be removed, we run them through a chipper and turn them into wood chips! Great for topping off your foundation beds, garden beds, and landscape beds. Wood chips help your soil retain moisture and prevent weeds. Our Winnabow Wood Chips come in reusable bags, which helps avoid single-use plastics.
Specialty Wood & Lumber:
We frequently carry live-edge lumber and specialty wood that can be used for countless types of furniture-making and projects that will last a lifetime. All wood is milled on site with our mobile sawmill. Shoot us an email and let us know what you’re looking for!
Come tour our farm!
When picking up an order, you can pre-arrange a farm tour. Let your kids enjoy some sunshine and fresh air! Save some time to feed and pet the goats. Or you can grab a brush and help groom the fur of Homer the donkey.
